Paediatric First Aid (Blended)

Face-to-Face Course


Our Blended Paediatric First Aid Course combines flexible online learning with a practical, face-to-face training session, giving learners the full 12-hour Paediatric First Aid qualification required by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) for staff working with babies and young children.


This course is ideal for nurseries, preschools, childminders, afterschool clubs, and anyone responsible for the care of children. The blended format allows learners to complete the theory online at their own pace, followed by a hands-on practical day delivered by our experienced trainers at your premises.

Course Structure


Part 1 – Online Learning (6 hours) Learners complete an interactive online module covering essential paediatric first aid theory. This can be completed at a convenient time before the practical session.

Part 2 – Practical Training (6 hours) Delivered facetoface at your premises, this session focuses on handson skills, reallife scenarios, and practical assessments to ensure learners feel confident and competent.


Course Content

The blended Paediatric First Aid course covers:

  • Roles and Responsibilities of the Paediatric First Aider

  • Primary and secondary surveys

  • CPR for infants and children

  • Safe use of an AED

  • Unresponsive casualties (breathing and not breathing)

  • Choking

  • Seizures and febrile convulsions

  • Anaphylaxis and autoinjectors

  • Asthma and respiratory emergencies

  • Shock

  • Wounds, bleeding, and catastrophic bleeding

  • Burns and scalds

  • Fractures, sprains, and soft tissue injuries

  • Head, neck, and spinal injuries

  • Poisoning

  • Childhood illnesses and minor injuries

Assessment & Certification

Learners are assessed through:

  • Online knowledge checks

  • Practical demonstrations during the face-to-face session


Successful delegates receive a Level 3 Paediatric First Aid certificate, valid for three years, fully compliant with EYFS and Ofsted requirements.


Course Delivery


This course is delivered in-house at your premises for up to 12 delegates, offering a flexible and cost-effective training solution for Early Years settings.
